Around twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, bringing strong winds reaching 109km/h.

Large Hailstones and Extensive Damage

Locals reported giant hailstones measuring up to seven centimeters in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were expected to linger along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tuesday was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across various areas of both areas.

Medical Alert

Medical authorities warned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the ongoing climate situation.

This alert comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
