Followers Demand Detainment of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the pop star are demanding that a man who leaped a barrier and touched the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared clip depicts the Australian man shoving aside photographers and lunging at Grande while the performers made its way down a promenade accompanied by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly wrested the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being escorted out of the gathering by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being arrested", though official papers revealed that he was due to appear on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Record of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account includes clips of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney concert in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen posted of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user remarked.
Followers Express Concern Over the Star's Well-being
Several fans blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another response on Instagram.
A number of fans also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande seemed shocked when she was touched by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Hundreds of attendees had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore venue, including several who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The movie, to be released on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-film adaptation of the acclaimed theatrical musical Wicked, which centers on the unexpected relationship between two contrasting characters.
The production itself is a derivative of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a light pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of the previous year in the UK, and scored 10 Academy Award nods, winning two for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
