Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

The Gunners' 10-game winning streak came to an end by Sunderland before the international break, but can the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

Murs' new record, the new release, is out on the weekend.

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer side," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from injury but their offense is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this game will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they do look competitive again.

The Hammers' only on the road win this season came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

The guest's prediction: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have surprised a several people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

A family member advised me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support Brentford at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it in reality proves to be quite close. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive game for Fulham, who have lost five of their last six games.

Fulham have got plenty of quality in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.

Regarding the Black Cats, well they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.

Their performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not seen any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.

But I am not do that. Rather, I really need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the only team they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that the hosts are on a bad streak... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this season. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
