Viktor Gyokeres joined Arsenal from Sporting Lisbon this summer

Gunners forward Viktor Gyokeres has been omitted in Graham Potter's maiden Swedish national squad, while Reds forward Alexander Isak has earned a place

Gyokeres is set to undergo further examinations in the coming days following fears he sustained a muscle problem in the Gunners's Premier League triumph at Burnley last weekend

Gyokeres was absent from the Gunners' European victory versus the Czech side on Tuesday

Isak Makes Comeback

Isak, who hasn't featured since 22 October owing to a groin injury, was selected to play in the World Cup matches against the Swiss team (November 15th) and Slovenia (18 November)

Other Premier League Inclusions

  • Spurs midfielder Lucas Bergvall, working his way back from concussion
  • Magpies wide player Anthony Elanga

Both athletes feature in the Premier League players selected under ex- Brighton, Chelsea and West Ham coach the new Swedish coach

Potter's Role

Potter was named by Sweden originally temporarily on 20 October, less than four weeks following he was dismissed from West Ham

Previous manager the Danish coach was fired after the national team's 1-0 loss to the Kosovan team in mid-October, an outcome that ended direct progression in their World Cup group out of reach

Current Standing

Sweden sit last place of their qualifying group with only a single point in four matches

Should they fail to finish second, they may yet take part in the qualification playoffs due to of their performance in the most recent UEFA competition
