The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the wildly popular video game Call of Duty, has passed away in a traffic collision in Los Angeles, California at the age of 55.

The tragic news was announced by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio which he helped establish.

The influential video game developer passed away following his automobile collided and caught fire on a highway in the Los Angeles area on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"This is a devastating loss, and our hearts are with Vince's loved ones, his loved ones, and everyone impacted by his work," an official with Electronic Arts said.
